Tactical Practice/Survivor Series
Tactical Practices/Survival Series will be held on the fourth Sunday of each month. Sessions are now broken up into two parts, experienced shooters (those whom have participated in TP/SS sessions before) begin at 0830 until 1030. Beginners and those new to shooting TP/SS at Major Waldron's begin at 1030 and go until 1230. There is also a Tactical Practice/Survival Series session held on the Friday before the fourth Sunday. This session starts at 6:30 and runs until it is finished.
This is an informational page for the Tactical Practice/Survival Series sessions held every fourth Sunday at Major Waldron Sportsmen's Association (MWSA) indoor range in Barrington, NH. Tactical Practice/Survivor Series is led by Robert Makowski, a retired law enforcement officer who served for 25 years on the Dallas, TX and Rochester, NH police departments as well as the New Hampshire Corrections department. Bob is an NRA certified, multi-discipline firearms instructor and instructor trainer. There are always several instructors and range officers on hand assisting and safety is our primary concern. The Tactical Practice/Survivor Series sessions are held with the express purpose of sharing, reviewing and practicing combat tactics and scenarios. People who attend these sessions are generally NRA instructors and students, law enforcement officers, veterans of military service and other serious individuals eager to learn and practice in a safe, structured environment. You are not required to be a member of MWSA to attend. These sessions are not 'scored'. There is no 'competition'. The sole purpose is to provide a safe environment to practice improving the skills of combat handgunning. Most sessions are Tactical Practice oriented where defensive handgun tactics are discussed, demonstrated and practiced with live fire scenarios. Three or four times a year a Survivor Series is conducted to check to see if TP participants are retaining and using the tactics they have learned throughout the year. This page gives those interested in combat handgun tactics an idea of what we are all about. The plan is to post pictures and information from selected sessions as they are held. Anyone is welcome to inquire about attending a session. A certain level of skill is needed to participate in these sessions. Completion of firearms safety programs or those with law enforcement or military training will usually have the necessary skills. Those who have been shooting for years or have taken classes elsewhere should contact Bob Makowski or Lisa Huml to be checked out prior to attending. There are small fees to attend each session ranging from $5 to $7 depending on the type of session and whether or not you are a member. You will need a quality holster, handgun, spare mags/speed loaders, at least 200 rounds of ammo, a tactical flashlight and eye and hearing protection. No magnum loads are allowed at the indoor range. Only jacketed ammo is allowed.

A few people have asked about the frequent reference to the USMC Rules For Gun Fighting. These are a handy list of rules that are at once humorous and true. To view the whole list click here: USMC Rules For Gun Fighting
